  • Well, from the spec sheet, the 2004 Volvo S60 R’s powerful engine, all-wheel-drive, active suspension, sticky tires, and big brakes should add up to great driving fun. So, let’s go hands on. Like earlier R-models, the S60 R uses a turbocharged 5-cylinder. This 2.5-liter unit comes from the XC90. But with 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, a total rework was needed to make it the most powerful R-engine yet, a larger turbo with 15 pounds of boost, two intercoolers, not to mention new cams and variable valve timing going in and coming out.

Through the increase use of all-wheel drive in Volvo products occurring in recent years, the Swedish automaker decided to add the system to their flagship sedan. The all-wheel drive version of the Volvo S80 is exclusively powered by the turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine. All 2004 model year are accented with updated front and rear styling. For 2004, performance luxury buyers will be attracted to highly potent versions of the and V70 wagon propelled by 300-horsepower, turbocharged 2.5-liter engines. Conceived from Four-C Technology (Continuously Controlled Chassis Concept), the 2004 Volvo S60 R and the V70 R feature electronically controlled all-wheel drive as well as Brembo aluminum brake calipers. Limited production, special edition versions of the V70 along with the S40 and V40 can be found in Volvo dealerships for 2004. The Volvo V70 2.5T Titanium Edition features a striking Titanium Grey, silver roof rails and sport seating. Limited Sport Edition versions of the 2004 Volvo S40 and V40 include leather seating, premium sound system, power glass moonroof and rear spoiler. Few changes are found on Volvo's C70, XC70 and XC90 vehicles for 2004.

  • The 2004 Volvo S60 makes a rather unusual entry into the luxury sedan market. The S60 straddles the line between a luxury sedan and sport sedan with remarkable grace. From body design to performance, the S60 shows a different take on this style of car that can appeal to some drivers.

The 2004 Volvo S60 remains largely the same as the 2003 model. The 2.4-liter engine has been upgraded to a 2.5-liter engine. Speed-sensitive steering becomes a standard feature for the optional sports package on the S60 2.5T. Bi-xenon headlights provide an optional feature for all models.

  • 2004 Volvo S60 R

Volvo refers to the S60 as a ""coupe with four doors."" With a sleek, curvy body, this gives a good description of the 2004 Volvo S60. It shows a nice change of pace compared to some of the more traditional, blockier Volvos. The distinctive chrome grille helps to distinguish it from other vehicles, as well.

2004 Volvo S60 Values- NADAguides

A handsome, well-finished high-performance sedan with the advantage of standard all-wheel-drive, the 2004 Volvo S60R won’t get you as excited as a BMW M3, but it is a more versatile vehicle all-around. Didn’t like its wide turning circle, though.
