  • As the smallest vehicle offered in the automaker’s line-up, the 2005 Pontiac Sunfire chugs along this model year as a two door Coupe offered in base and 1SV trim levels. Under the hood, the Sunfire features a 140 horsepower 2.2-liter gas-powered L4 with a 5-speed manual transmission and front wheel drive as standard. With seating capacity for up to five passengers, the Sunfire comes equipped with air conditioning, cruise control, keyless entry, power accessories, an adjustable leather-wrapped steering wheel and AM/FM/CD/MP3/Satellite audio. Safety features include ABS.

We just purchased my first car... 2005 Pontiac Sunfire base with air conditioning being the only option, no power windows, no power locks. It was 4000 with 86,100 miles on it. Obviously, since it's my first car I love it, but seriously this is a fun car to drive, and the 5 speed stick shift just adds to the fun! This is the best year reliability wise for the Sunfire, and in my opinion I think this was the best design of the Sunfire series. I do wish i at least had a cassette or cd player, but until i come up with the $ for a new head unit, my Belkin Auto FM Transmitter will do just fine. So far so good!

2005 Pontiac Sunfire Coupe - Prices & Reviews

The engine air filter in your 2005 Pontiac Sunfire cleans the air that enters your engine. You should change the filter on your Sunfire at least once a year or every 20,000 miles, whichever comes first. If you drive in dusty or sandy conditions, you should change your filter more frequently. A dirty air filter will cause your Sunfire to lose 1 - 3 mpg, depending on your driving, you can save 70 - 100 gallons of gas per year simply by changing your filter regularly. The video above, shows you where the engine air filter is located in your Sunfire and how to change it!

In addition to improving the fuel economy of your Sunfire, regularly replacing your air filter will put less strain on your engine. These filters are fairly inexpensive, so check out our page for great deals and coupons on a new one (tip: buy several, when you go to check the filter on your Sunfire, you can easily swap it for a new one if it is dirty).
