  • Does your car not start up in cold weather? Are you stuck out in the cold because your car does not start? Here are two possible problems. The first problem is that your vehicle may be using heavy single weight engine oil. In the cold the oil may become thick and this prevents oil from circulating around the engine thus prevent the engine from cranking. To fix this problem change your engine’s oil to 10w-30 or 10w-40. The second problem is having a weak car battery. Let me explain, the cold weather can affect a battery. The car battery may be very weak due to the cold therefore not having enough power to start up the car.

Car does not start in the rain — Car Talk

Question on an Avital 4103 that stopped starting the car (2008 Honda Accord). It was installed by the previous owner. The door lock/unlock still works fine. It had previously worked fine, but the car start stopped working after having the car battery replaced. When trying to start the car the engine only turns for a very quick duration, but doesn’t seem to be long enough to start the car, so the car electronics turn on, but the car does not start. Any help?
