Today we are going to review and install, the Pilot Truck Bed Tailgate Gap Cover part number TR-101. Here's what our Pilot gap cover's going to look like once it's installed. Our gap cover's material is made from a commercial grade construction ABS plastic. It's stiff and durable, rust proof, but yet still flexible enough that we can close our tailgate. Our gap cover makes it nice an easy to clean out our truck, whether we're hauling rock, mulch, or just cleaning it up. It allows us to swiftly and easily shovel or sweep it out over the tailgate, preventing it from falling down between the pickup bed and the tailgate. Now to begin our install, we need to take our four gap cover pieces, set them out, and find the mounting location.
Really make sure we get up all the oils and dirt. Before I put my gap covers in place, we're going to go ahead and install the band clamp. The band clamp will go around the pickup tailgate side that is removable, to hold it together so that it doesn't pop off when closing the tailgate. With the additional force caused by the gap cover, the tailgate could become unlatched here. The band clamp will prevent that from happening. You don't have to have it super tight, just enough that we know it's going to keep our tailgate in place. We are now ready to go ahead and install the gap covers. On the bottom side of our gap covers, is a two-way adhesive. One side sticks to the cover, the other side will get stuck to the pickup bed and tailgate. Go ahead and remove the adhesive cover. Set it into position, then firmly press it into place to get a good cohesive connection. Now with our first one done, we'll repeat the same process with the other three pieces. Now that we have our gap covers in place, we'll go ahead and remove the tape that we used for marking it. It's recommended to wait eight hours before you close the tailgate to give the adhesive plenty of time to cure, then you're ready to hit the road. That will do it for the review and install of the Pilot Truck Bed Tailgate Gap Cover part number TR-101.
